About us

A Transient State is an experimental French composition and production duo consisting of François Simitchiev and Jason Del Campo. The creative pair from Lyon made their debut earlier this year when they composed the original soundtrack for Atlantic Bar, a documentary movie written and directed by Fanny Molins. The film won several awards, including ACID Cannes 2022 and Paris Champs Elysées Film Festival.

François Simitchiev is a double bass player and composer who grew up in a musical household with both parents being classical musicians. He has studied and performed classical music since childhood. However, he has also always been drawn to ambient and electronic music. As a composer he marries these musical worlds as he explores the sonic potential of the double bass.

Jason Del Campo is a guitar player, first drawn to the instrument as a fan of rockers like Angus Young (AC/DC) and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers). Eventually his tastes evolved to include the jazz stylings of the great Pat Metheny and experimental genre-fluid virtuosos like Bill Frisell. He studied at the prestigious National School Of Music in Villeurbanne and then at the famous Conservatoire of Lyon.

Journey is the debut EP from A Transient State, released worldwide by Themsay Records via all major streaming services on October 12, 2022.
